A funny thing happened a few years ago when I was living in Oregon and working on this project.
As I started making the recipes published in The Original Tehachapi Apple Book, I started remembering the people who sent them in to be published and thinking about Tehachapi and I got really homesick.
Moving back to Tehachapi from Oregon about two years ago this month was a real ordeal. It happened that it was apple season, 2021, when we returned and I wrote about it for Tehachapi News HERE, and I even bought some apples and made a pie. But then I got so busy writing for Tehachapi News and other publications that I let this website just sit here, unfinished.
It’s nearly apple season again and it makes me sad that there aren’t as many apple trees as there once were here. But apples are still important to Tehachapi’s heritage and today, so I plan to take a little time to try to finish this project by the end of the year and perhaps publish a new edition next year.
